Record 400 get BPM, PPM awards this time

The Home Ministry has released a list of 400 police personnel who have been selected for the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and the President's Police Medal (PPM).

According to a notification issued by the Public Security Division of the ministry on Thursday, the awards will be given for their performance for the period from December 1, 2022, to January 10, this year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to confer the medals during the inaugural ceremony of Police Week, which starts on February 27.

The notification named 35 policemen for the BPM and 60 for the PPM in recognition of their bravery and heroic activities. Moreover, 95 police members will get BPM and 210 will get PPM for solving important cases, preventing crimes, efficiency, devotion to duty, integrity, and discipline.

This is the first time so many police members have been selected for the prestigious awards.

Earlier, 117 police members got BPM and PPM for their contribution in 2022, 230 for 2021 and 2020, 118 for 2019, 349 for 2018, 182 for 2017, 132 for 2016, and 102 police members for 2015. Before 2015, the number of recipients was less than 100.
