Andaleeve Rahman Partho secures bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and former member of parliament, in a case over an attack on Setu Bhaban in Banani, Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury issued the order on Tuesday after a hearing, Partho’s lawyer, Ali Basar, confirmed.

Previously, a court had granted a five-day remand on July 25 and a three-day remand on July 30 for Partho in the same case. 

After the remand ended on Friday, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.

The Setu Bhaban attack took place on July 18. Afterwards, the caretaker of the building, Robiul Islam, filed a case in this connection with Banani police station. 

The case statement says damages worth Tk300 crore were incurred. 

Later, Andaleeve Rahman Partho was arrested in the case at his Gulshan residence on the night of July 24.
