The death toll from the July uprising stands at 1,423, according to Tarikul Islam, Member Secretary of the Central Health Sub-Committee and Central Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He announced this figure in a video statement on Facebook on Friday night (September 20).
Tarikul Islam mentioned that while the death toll is 1,423, the number may fluctuate. He stated that a complete list will be compiled soon.
Regarding the injured, he said that managing the injured is a difficult task due to the large number involved. So far, they have a list of 22,000 injured individuals, though this number may change.
He further added that 587 people have been left permanently disabled or have lost limbs as a result of the movement. Additionally, 685 people have partially or completely lost their vision due to gunshot wounds, including 92 individuals who were shot in both eyes or have completely lost vision in both eyes.
