The chief adviser (CA) of the interim government Muhammad Yunus will take a commercial flight, instead of a chartered VVIP flight, as world leaders are flying to New York to attend the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

He will depart for New York on Monday, and will address the 79th session of the UNGA on September 27.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain disclosed the information while talking to journalists at the secretariat on Saturday (September 21).

The foreign adviser said, "The chief adviser will not take a chartered flight to attend the UN session in then USA. He will fly on a commercial flight”.

He added, “The chief adviser will hold high level meetings with the leaders of Netherlands, Pakistan, Nepal, the head of the European Commission, and the US Secretary of State. However, there is no possibility of talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

Tauhid Hossain also said that Bangladesh will call on the international community to play their role strongly in the UN session on the Rohingya issue. Bangladesh’s commitment to reform and human rights issues will be highlighted in the UN session.

He said, “There is tension with India, it cannot be denied. There will be discussions to overcome those tensions. I will meet Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar”.
