China wishes to work closely with Bangladesh’s interim government strengthening exchanges and cooperation in various fields, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Chinese Foreign Minister on Wednesday (September 25) afternoon met Bangladesh’s interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, Wang Yi said China wants to invest in solar panels in Bangladesh and deepen trade and economic relations with Dhaka.

At this time, the top Chinese diplomat congratulated the chief adviser for taking the leadership of the interim government of Bangladesh.

Wang Yi said that China will give importance to Professor Yunus's call for Chinese solar panel manufacturers to set up solar plants in Bangladesh. The chief adviser made this call when the Chinese ambassador in Dhaka paid a courtesy call on him last month.

China's foreign minister said Beijing will encourage greater cooperation and partnership between companies from the two countries. Bangladesh will also benefit from China's decision to grant zero-tariff access to all products from LDCs.

He also said that the Chinese Red Cross has sent a team of doctors to Bangladesh to treat the seriously injured during the July-August uprising.
