Students from over 35 colleges surrounded the Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital (DNMCH) in the capital's Old Dhaka, demanding justice for the death of a Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) student and for those responsible for the attack on them.

The protesting students gathered in front of the hospital around 1pm on Sunday as part of their pre-announced protest program.

During the protest, the students blocked the main gate of the hospital and vandalized the nameplate.

Prior to this, they broke through police barricades at Murgitola and Ray Shaheb Bazar.

It was reported that Abhijit Halder, a student of DMRC was admitted to the hospital’s medicine department on November 16, suffering from dengue.

However, just two days later, he had passed away.

Following his death, students had blocked the hospital on Wednesday and Thursday.

Their accusations claim that on those dates, students from Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College, along with activists from the student wing of the opposition, attacked them.
