Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin said that their intentions were sincere and elections would be held only after significant reforms.
He made this comment in response to journalist's questions after taking the oath on Sunday afternoon.
The newly appointed CEC, along with four election commissioners (ECs), officially took their oaths at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge.
On Thursday, former Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. Along with him, the names of the four Election Commissioners were also announced.
The four Election Commissioners are: former additional secretary Anwarul Islam Sarkar, retired district and sessions judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former joint secretary Tahmida Ahmed, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah.
They were appointed by President Md Sahabuddin under Article 118(1) of the Constitution.
