The government is treating the safety concerns of student coordinators with utmost seriousness, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said on Thursday.
She said this in response to questions regarding the risks faced by student coordinators during recent events.
Speaking at a press briefing following a Council of Advisers meeting, Rizwana Hasan said the safety issues of the student coordinators were discussed extensively.
“It was highlighted that ensuring their safety is necessary. However, no specific decision has been made yet,” she said.
The coordinators have been actively working to unite the nation on critical issues, which, Rizwana noted, could conflict with certain interests. She assured that law enforcement agencies are investigating the concerns raised.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, addressed various national issues, including the challenges faced by student coordinators. Interim government Adviser Mahfuj Alam and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam were also present at the briefing.
The Council's deliberations signal the government's commitment to addressing the risks and ensuring the safety of those fostering national unity in challenging times.
