The government has extended the term of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearance by an additional three months, starting from 15 December.
Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard yesterday (3 December) as per section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1956 (Act No VI of 1956).
Earlier on 15 September, the government formed a five-member commission led by Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury to find out forcibly disappeared people by the law enforcement agencies from 1 January 2010 to 5 August 2024.
The members of the commission are Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli, human rights activist Nur Khan, BRAC University teacher Nabila Idris and human rights activist Sazzad Hossain.
The commission already found involvement of DGFI, RAB, DB, CTTC, CID and police with the enforced disappearances and is interrogating security personnel concerned in this regard.
