Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has expressed hope that members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) will emerge as a great force during the nation's crises.
In his welcoming speech at the inauguration ceremony of an academic building at the BNCC Training Academy in Baipayl, Savar on Thursday, the army chief praised the leading role of BNCC cadets at both social and national levels.
He said BNCC members, alongside the Armed Forces, have been playing a leading role in maintaining the country's security and order during any crisis.
Particularly, after August 5, they helped in traffic control and various other tasks, he noted, also praising the role of BNCC members in assisting flood victims in the past.
Earlier, at the inauguration ceremony, a smart contingent of cadets from the army, navy, and air force wings of the BNCC presented a guard of honour to General Waker-Uz-Zaman. Following the unveiling of the inauguration plaque, he planted trees at the BNCC Training Academy and participated in a special prayer for the welfare of the country.
Meanwhile, in the morning, the army chief attended the annual Commandant Conference at the CMP Centre of Savar Cantonment.
