The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation has so far distributed Tk47.98 crore among the families of those killed and injured during the July uprising.
A total of 2,228 families of the victims, including 648 martyrs’ families and 1,580 injured people, received financial assistance from the foundation.
Talking to BSS, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that around Tk32.04 crore has been distributed among the families of 648 martyrs, adding that over Tk15.58 crore has been given to 1,580 injured people.
He said the government is committed to staying always beside the families of the victims in the uprising.
“We are committed to staying beside them. We always want to remember their sacrifice to free the country from autocracy,” Shafiqul added.
Initially, he said, financial assistance of Tk5 lakh is being given to each martyr's family and Tk1 lakh to each injured.
Distribution of the assistance began on November 2 to support the victims’ families.
On September 17, the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation was formally launched with Tk100 crore in donations received from the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund.
