Misunderstandings between BNP, student leaders must be avoided: Asif Nazrul

Staff Correspondent, Dhaka

Law Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul highlighted the importance of avoiding misunderstandings or distance between the BNP and the forces of student leaders or mass movements, cautioning that such divisions could encourage the ruling party and its allies, as seen in recent incidents.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday, Professor Nazrul said: "Over the past two days, social media has been filled with rumours about the supposed flight of Dr Muhammad Yunus, along with advisers and student leaders. This wave of misinformation reportedly led to acts of sabotage by members of the ruling Awami League, prompting a few concerned individuals to call me seeking clarity about these developments."

He noted that, as far as he knows and believes, the BNP is not interested in conspiracies or anything like 1/11, the student leaders are neither forming political parties nor joining existing ones under the current government, the July declaration will act as a political document reflecting the opinions of mass movement forces and both the BNP and the student leaders are open to broader agreements, including election-related ones, through dialogue.

Professor Nazrul concluded by emphasizing the need for unity, saying that differences of opinion should not reach a level where they give strength to the enemies of Bangladesh and urging all groups to remain united in the face of significant challenges posed by the ruling party's vast resources and international support.
