Justice Shahed Nuruddin of the Supreme Court's High Court Division has resigned, the Supreme Court administration confirmed on Thursday, amid an investigation into him by the Supreme Judicial Council.
He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in law from Dhaka University and was the judge in the 2004 Dhaka grenade attack case.
Complaints about irregularities and working as an ally of the Awami League regime prior to August 5 were raised against several judges.
The Supreme Judicial Council then conducted investigations against those judges.
Following the procedures, the investigation report with recommendations was sent to the president.
Meanwhile, on October 16, due to allegations of corruption and working as an ally of the then Awami League government, Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed sent 12 judges on leave. Their responsibilities in the High Court Bench were suspended.
The 12 judges are: Justice Naima Haider, Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif, Justice Ashish Ranjan Das, Justice Mohammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar, Justice SM Moniruzzaman, Justice Ataur Rahman Khan, Justice Shahed Nuruddin, Justice Md Akteruzzaman, Justice Md Aminul Islam, Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon, Justice Khijir Hayat, and Justice Khondkar Diliruzzaman.
