The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former foreign minister and Chittagong-7 (Rangunia) lawmaker Dr Mohammed Hasan Mahmud and his wife, Nurun Fatema, over allegations of amassing hundreds of crores of taka in illegal wealth and laundering the money through dozens of suspicious bank accounts. ACC Deputy Director (Media) Akhtarul Islam confirmed that the case was filed with the commission's District Office-1 on Sunday.
According to the ACC case report, Hasan Mahmud amassed and possessed assets worth Tk1.11 crore that are inconsistent with his known sources of income.
