A court in Dhaka has granted a 3-day remand for Rashed Khan Menon, President of the Workers Party of Bangladesh and former minister, in connection with a case related to an attack on BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas.
Earlier, on September 12, Menon was ordered to be sent to jail.
The attack, which allegedly occurred in December 2018, led to the filing of the case at Shahbagh Police Station.
The police had initially requested a 5-day remand, but following a hearing on Tuesday, the court approved a reduced duration of remand.
Earlier, on September 12, Menon was ordered to be sent to jail by a judge at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in connection with various murder cases tied to a student movement against discrimination.
