Former prime minister’s adviser Salman F Rahman, former law minister Anisul Huq, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former police chief Abdullah Al Mamun and retired Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik have been shown arrested in separate cases.
They were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) Court on Wednesday (September 18).
The court showed Manik arrested in six separate cases lodged over murders during the recent student-mass upsurge. Of the six cases, four were filed at Badda Police Station, one at Lalbagh Police Station and another at Adabor Police Station.
Earlier, a court in Sylhet sent him to jail on August 24. He was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on August 23 while attempting to cross into India illegally.
Manik was flown to Dhaka by a helicopter of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday.
Mamun was shown arrested in two separate cases, including a murder case filed at Badda Police Station. He was arrested from Uttara on September 3.
Anisul and Palak were also shown arrested in three murder cases filed at the same police station. Anisul was arrested from the city's Sadarghat area while he was trying to flee on August 13. The next day, police detained Palak from the city's Nikunja residential area.
Salman was shown arrested in three new murder cases filed at Badda and Khilgaon police stations. He was arrested along with Anisul. They were subsequently handed over to the police and then transferred to DB custody.
