Six Dhaka University students have admitted to taking part in the killing of Masud Kamal Tofazzal on the campus.
Tofazzal Hossain hailed from Patharghata upazila in Barguna. He became mentally unstable four years ago and, with no family left to care for him, was unable to receive proper treatment.
They confessed to their crimes before a judge in Dhaka on Friday (September 20). Later, the court sent them to jail.
Meanwhile, DU filed a case at Shahbagh Police Station in connection with the murder on September 19. Police arrested six students the same evening.
The students are: Jalal Ahmed of the physical science department, Mohammad Sumon of the soil water and environment, Muttakin Sakin of the nutrition and food science department, Ahsan Ullah (24) of mathematics department, Al Hossain Sajjad and Wajibul Alam of geography.
