Seven political and media persons sent to jail

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court, after the suspects were presented following the completion of their remand on Sunday, ordered their immediate transfer to jail.

Seven prominent figures, including political leaders and media persons, have been ordered to be sent to prison by a Dhaka court.

They have been implicated in a murder case filed with Tejgaon police station.

Among those remanded are Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu, former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni, and former State Minister for Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, and journalist couple Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa have also been arrested in connection with the case.
