Cases against Sheikh Hasina hit double century

Over 200 lawsuits have been filed against the former prime minister Sheikh Hasina across the country since she fled the country in the face of a mass uprising.

These cases encompass a range of serious charges, including murder, crimes against humanity and genocide, abduction, attempted murder and more.

Seven more cases have been filed against Hasina with the Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and capital’s various police stations in the last three days (Saturday, Monday and Tuesday).

It was the latest in the slew of cases filed against the 76-year-old former premier, which took the total number of lawsuits against her to 204 which including 179 murder charges.

Hasina fled to India on 5 August afternoon following the downfall of her Awami League government amid widespread student and public protest.

The first lawsuit (murder case) was filed against with a Dhaka Court on 13 August, eight days later her departure. Since then she and her party men are facing lawsuit one after another.
