A Dhaka court has placed Dilip Kumar Agarwal, the owner and managing director of Diamond World Limited, on a six-day remand in connection with the death of Hriday Ahmed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Badda, Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain issued the remand order on Thursday after a hearing.

Deputy Inspector Nurul Islam Khan from the Gulshan Division of the Detective Branch (DB) produced Agarwal in court and sought a 10-day remand for further questioning. Agarwal's lawyer submitted a bail application requesting the cancellation of the remand. The state opposed the bail request. After the hearing, the court granted a six-day remand.

Agarwal was arrested on the night of September 3 from Aakash Tower in Gulshan. The following day, he was presented before the court and remanded for three days in the case filed with Badda police station. After his initial remand expired, he was sent to jail on September 7.

According to the case documents, Hriday Ahmed was shot dead on July 19 around 2pm in front of BRAC University in Badda during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. A case was filed by a man named Shahadat Hossain Khan, implicating 161 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
