Ex-IGP Mamun on 43-day remand in 8 murder cases

Former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was placed on a 43-day remand in eight separate murder cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order as police produced the former police chief and pleaded to place him on remand in seven murder cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station and another one filed with New Market Police Station.

Mamun was placed on seven-day remand in Sakib Hasan killing case, seven-day in Emon Hossain Gazi killing case, five-day in Irfan Bhuiyan killing case, five-day in Muntasir Rahman killing case, five-day remand in Sujob killing case, four-day in Rafikul Islam killing case, five-day in Mahmudul Hasan Joy killing case and another five-day remand in a murder case filed with New Market Police Station.

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the former IGP on September 3 and the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akhteruzzaman placed him on eight-day remand in Abu Sayed murder case the next day. He was placed on four-day remand in Mohammad Ismail murder case on September 24.
