Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has said that journalists implicated in the killings related to the anti-discrimination student movement will face prosecution in the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the renovation of the tribunal's main building on Tuesday, Dr Nazrul said: "Following the proper legal procedures and thorough analysis, the prosecution team will take steps to bring the journalists to trial. I can assure you that guilty journalists will also be prosecuted, but it will be a fair trial."

He emphasized the government’s commitment to justice for the incidents of murder and genocide associated with the student movement.

"The renovation of the International Crimes Tribunal is progressing rapidly, and I hope we can begin trials in the main building from November 1," he added.

Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal, Md Tajul Islam, said that a reception for the judges will be held on Wednesday in the tribunal’s courtroom.

He confirmed that on Thursday, a bench of three judges, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, will commence trial proceedings.
