5 sent to jail over torching of police, army vehicles

A court here today sent five miscreants to jail in two separate cases lodged over vandalizing and torching two vehicles of the army and the police and creating anarchy in the capital's Kochukhet area recently.

The five accused are-- Alamgir, Reshma Khatun, Mahfuz Miah, Aminul Islam and Qazi Russel.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq passed the order as police produced the five before the court and pleaded to keep them behind the bars till the end of the probe.

Bangladesh Army teams apprehended the five from the capital's Bhashantek and Kafrul areas on November 2. Of them, Mahfuz and Aminul were shown arrested in the case lodged with the Kafrul Police Station while Alamgir, Reshma and Russel were shown arrested under a case filed with the Bhashantek Police Station.

A group of miscreants on October 31 created mayhem in Kochukhet and Mirpur-14 areas, vandalizing and setting fire to two vehicles of Bangladesh Army and police.

Two cases were filed over the attack on law enforcing agencies and destroying government properties with the capital's Bhashantek and Kafrul Police Stations.
