65 institutions see ‘zero’ pass in HSC

A total of 65 educational institutions across Bangladesh have witnessed a ‘zero’ pass rate in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations.

The results were officially published on Tuesday.

This marks a significant increase from the previous year, where 42 institutions had a 0% pass rate.

In 2022, the number of institutions with no passing students was 50.

Students from 9,187 institutions participated in this year's exams. The overall pass rate for the HSC and equivalent exams in 2024 is 77.78%, which is slightly lower than the previous year's 78.64 percent.

This year, the exams took place across 2,695 centres under 11 education boards, with 1,450,790 students participating.

To receive results via SMS, students need to go to the messaging option on their phone, type "HSC" followed by a space, the first three letters of the respective board, another space, their roll number, a final space, and the exam year, then send it to 16222. For example: "HSC DHA 123456 2024" to 16222. Results will be sent back via SMS.

The HSC and equivalent exams started on June 30.

However, after eight days of exams, the government postponed the tests scheduled for July 18 due to unrest surrounding the quota reform movement. Following several rounds of postponements, the government ultimately cancelled the remaining exams due to continued student protests.
