Last week, during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Maksud Hossain’s Saba starring the ever illustrious Mehazabien Chowdhury shined like no other. The praise the film received was also astronomical.

Now the film is set to be screened at the 29th Busan international Film Festival under the A Window on Asian Cinema section.

The film revolves around a young woman named Saba, who has to become the sole caregiver of her sick mother. The story depicts her struggles with all the weight on her shoulders, and slowly becoming overwhelmed as her mother’s health deteriorates.

The story was inspired by the writers’ real-life events. Trilora Khan, who spent years taking care for her mother and Maksud Hossian’s experience and grief after his father’s death during the pandemic.

This year the Busan International Film Festival is being opened by Park Bo Young and Ahn Jae Hong. The festival will start on October 2 and will end on October 11.
