Former agriculture minister Abdur Razzaque and former civil aviation minister Lt Col (Retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan have been sent to jail following their remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider issued the order on Thursday.

Earlier, police presented the two, both presidium members of the Awami League, before the court after their remand ended.

Police applied for their detention in jail. The defence lawyers sought bail, while the prosecution argued in favour of keeping them in custody. After hearing their arguments, the judge ordered their detention in jail.

Abdur Razzaque, following his arrest in Eskaton on Monday, was remanded for two days in a case filed over the killing of businessman Abdul Wadud in the New Market area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Faruk Khan, arrested on the same day in the Dhaka Cantonment area, was also on a two-day remand in connection with the killing of BNP activist Mokbul in 2022.
