Rock icon Ayub Bachchu’s sixth death anniversary today

Today is the sixth death anniversary of one of the Bangla rock music pioneers Ayub Bachchu.

On October 18, 2018, the legendary singer, songwriter, and guitarist breathed his last at the capital's Square Hospital.

Born August 16, 1962 in Chattogram, Ayub Bachchu recorded 28 albums, including 16 solo albums in his music career that spanned over more than four decades.

Ayub Bachchu was drawn to music at an early age. He founded his first band named Spider at the age of 14. In 1978, he joined the band Feelings, and left the band only after two years. He joined Souls as its lead guitarist in 1980 where he played for 10 years.

In 1991, Ayub Bachchu founded the LRB, which is admired for its taste for experimentation, with its first album being released in the double-disc record.

The album was a runaway success with many of its rock numbers becoming so popular that they were still on the top of the popular band songs chart for a long time. The band released its last album titled Juddha in 2012.

Ayub Bachchu also owned a music studio named AB Kitchen at Moghbazar.

His solo albums include ‘Rakta Golap’ ‘Mayna’, ‘Kashto’ and ‘Jibaner Galpa’. He also released an instrumental album titled Sound of Silence in 2007.

He composed 500 songs, including famous numbers like ‘Chalo Badle Jai’, ‘Rupali Guitar’, ‘Haste Dekho’, ‘Ekhan Anek Raat’, ‘Ghum Bhanga Shahare’, ‘Darojar Opashe’, ‘Madhabi’, ‘Hawker’, ‘Meye’, ‘Tara Bhora Raate’ and ‘Saare Tinhat Mati’.
