Army chief assures Hindu community of security

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has assured security of the Hindu community ahead of Durga Puja.

He also promised to maintain coexistence with people of all religions.

The army chief came up with the assurance while visiting the puja mandap at Ramna Kali Mandir on Friday afternoon.

The army chief also greeted the members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Durga Puja. At the same time, he said that Bangladesh Army is always active to ensure security of puja mandaps from deployment in districts across the country.

Addressing the Hindu community, he said: "I guarantee your safety. You can do everything safely. The sympathy between us has existed in the past and will continue in the future.”

He hoped that every Bangladeshi community of Hindu religion will celebrate Durga Puja in a festive atmosphere with great enthusiasm as the law and order situation is under control.

The army chief also mentioned that cooperation and harmony among all religions in Bangladesh has always been maintained and it will continue in future as well.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmood Khan were also present on the occasion.
