Major reshuffle in Bangladesh Army

Major changes have been made in the Bangladesh Army with some promotions and postings.

After the Awami League-led government’s ouster on August 5, there have been some reshuffles in the armed forces

Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Major General Faizur Rahman has been promoted to lieutenant general and made the quartermaster general.

The announcement was made on Monday (October 14).

Major General Jahangir Alam has been appointed as the DG of the DGFI. He was serving as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 33 Infantry Division in Cumilla.

Meanwhile, Md Mainur Rahman, GOC of 24 Infantry Division (Chittagong Cantonment), has been made GOC of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC).

Before that, Mainur served as GOC of 33 Infantry Division in Cumilla. He was commissioned in the army in the 24th Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) long course in 1991 and was promoted to major general in 2022.

Several other posts have also been reshuffled.

After the Awami League-led government’s ouster on August 5, there have been some reshuffles in the armed forces. Some officers have been promoted, while some have been retired.
