Children of the members of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) today enjoyed a day-long cultural festival and received prizes from different categories of the competition.
About 100 children of the members of the organisation participated in the competition began at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium at 10 am.
A 9-member jury board comprising Folk Singer Shafi Mandol, Yeasmin Mustari, Khairul Wasi, Ekushey medalist and poem reciter Shimul Mustafa, reciter Muna Chowdhury, Azizul Bashar Masum, Dhaka University Fine Arts Department Professor Dr Maloy Bala, Associate Professor Harun-or-Rashid and Assistant Professor Amit Nandi selected the winners in music, recitation and painting categories.
They followed strict and transparent system to select prize winners through a fair and diverse selection of the participant’s paintings, poems recitation and performance of music.
Later, the prize distribution ceremony was held with DRU President Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo in the chair, while Ekushey medalist actor Mamunur Rashid was present as the chief guest.
DRU Cultural Secretary Manowar Hossain moderated the ceremony while DRU general secretary Mohi Uddin and former President of DRU Mursalin Nomani was also present at the prize giving ceremony.
Later, Mamunur Rashid distributed prizes among the winners of the cultural competition.
In the drawing competition, Hossain Rizvan Rousif won first place in category A while Hossain Rajbeen Raunaf won first place in category B and Indulekha Agni won first place in category C.
In the recitation competition, Sandiha Jahan Diba won first place in category A while Jerin Ferdous Pangkti won first place in category B and Navidur Rahman won first place in category C.
Aratrika Das won the first prize in the category A while Hossain Rajbeen Raunaf won the first prize in the category B in the music competition.
