Liaquat Hossain, Rajshahi: AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation, said that all the waste of Korbani in the metropolitan area will be removed by the night of Eid. The next day of Eid, the metropolitan people will get a clean city. The mayor was speaking as the chief guest at a coordination meeting of ward secretaries and clean supervisors in the city hall of Nagar Bhaban on Sunday afternoon.
The mayor added that all the waste of the sacrifice was removed by the night of the last Eid-ul-Azha. In continuation of this, the waste of the sacrifice will be removed by night this time. I want to give the gift of a clean city to the people of the metropolis the day after Eid. I am seeking the cooperation of the people of the metropolis in this work.
Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton called on the officials and employees of the cleaning department to perform their duties properly and said that the holy Eid-ul-Azha is going to be celebrated amidst the outbreak of corona virus. For this, all concerned should keep extra vigil. People should be encouraged to wear masks and follow hygiene rules. When slaughtering a sacrificial animal, those engaged in this work must ensure that they wear a mask.
The mayor added that he would not go to the sacrificial animal farm in groups. Go to 2/1 of the family and buy a sacrificial animal. Everyone has to follow the hygiene rules in the animal shed.
Calling on the people of the metropolis to be vigilant in preventing dengue, the mayor said that water tubs, broken pots and pans, discarded tires, tin cans, coconut shells, air conditioners and refrigerators should not be allowed to collect water. Keep the inside and surroundings of the house and the yard clean.
Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton said the Rajshahi City Corporation has carried out four months of sewer cleaning activities. This has increased the flow of water in the drain. When the remaining work is completed, the city dwellers will get the benefits.
The meeting was informed that a leaflet has been prepared on the slaughter of sacrificial animals and rapid removal of waste. In order to inform the public about the prepared leaflet, arrangements have been made by the imams of the mosques in each ward to preach the Friday prayers and Eid-ul-Azha in the congregation. Holiday leave has been canceled for all (Central and Ward) level officers / employees of the Cleaning Department. The control room will be opened on Eid day for smooth implementation of all activities. The meeting was chaired by RCC`s Waste Management Standing Committee Chairman Panel Mayor-1 and Ward Councilor No. 12 Sariful Islam Babu. Members of 13th Ward Councilor Abdul Momin, 19th Ward Councilor Touhidul Haque Sumon and 18th Ward Councilor Shahidul Islam spoke on the occasion. Chief Cleaning Officer Sheikh Md. Mamun Dollar addressed the meeting.
