Inauguration of three more modern STSs of RCC

To further modernize waste management of Rajshahi City Corporation(RCC), 3 more Secondary Transfer Stations (STS) have been commissioned in the city.

Kashiadanga Secondary Transfer Station, New Govt. Degree College STS (Padma Secondary Transfer Station) and Shalbagan Secondary Transfer Station were formally inaugurated on Thursday (November 23) by cutting the ribbon and unveiling plaques.  Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton announced the inauguration of three STSs by President of Waste Management Standing Committee and 12th Ward Councilor Sariful Islam Babu on behalf of Liton.  Dua and prayers were offered after the inauguration of the STS.  Note that after the launch of three new STS, the number of STS in Rajshahi City Corporation stands at 15.

During the inauguration, Ward No. 12 Councilor Sariful Islam Babu said that under the leadership of Honorable Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi has become a clean and livable city.  In 2009, during the first term of the Mayor, the night garbage collection program was launched.  Through this, there has been a radical change in the waste management of the city.  Rajshahi is now a model city in cleanliness with various initiatives including night waste removal activities.  For further modernization of waste management, one STS will be constructed in 30 wards in phases.

In the opening ceremony No. 1 Ward Councilor Rajab Ali, No. 19 Ward Councilor Touhidul Haque Sumon, Chief Clean Officer Sheikh Md.  Mamun, Deputy Chief Clean Officer Salim Reza Ranju, Clean Officer (Monitoring) Sajjad Ali and local dignitaries were present.  RCC's public relations officer Mustafiz Mishu moderated the program.
