4 injured in Kushtia youth gang attack

In Kushtia, 4 youths were injured by the indigenous weapons of the youth gang due to previous enmity. The incident took place at Kumarkhali Shaheed Golam Kibria Bridge area of Kushtia district at around 10:30 pm on Sunday (January 21). The injured have been admitted to Kushtia General Hospital. The injured are Ariful Islam (25), son of deceased Jamal Uddin of Kazipara area of Kumarkhali, Sabuj (25), son of Shahidul of Batikamara area, Jewel, son of Khalek Ali of Bara Maliat area and their classmate Sarat (24). Among them, Ariful's condition is serious, the doctor said. The injured Sarat said that at night they went to drink tea in the bridge area. At that time four or five unknown persons including Pappu, Turya, Ramim, Alif came and cut them down. Arif's stomach was cut and Bhuri came out, Sabuj's legs were cut, he was also injured along with Jewel. According to him, they had a fight with the opponent a few months ago. He cut them down because of that enmity. The doctor of Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex said that one person's pulse was out. They were sent to Kushtia General Hospital after first aid as soon as possible. It is known that the accused is the son of Motir of Elongi area of Pappu Municipality and leader of Chhatra League. Calling his mobile phone to find out about this was blocked. His father also refused to talk. Others were also found with their mobile phones switched off. Locals said that juvenile gangs are extremely reckless in the Kumarkhali municipal area. Common people are afraid of them. Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Akibul Islam said, they themselves got involved in the conflict. The injured have been sent to hospital for treatment. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received in this regard.
