Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent home $58.45 crore in remittances during the first seven days of September, the central bank says.
Expatriates sent home $222.13 crore in remittances in August.
During this time, the country received $8.35 crore in remittances every day on average, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) data released Sunday (September 8).
State-owned banks received $15.27 crore, while $1.48 crore came through specialised banks, $ 41.52 crore through private banks and $16.50 lakh through foreign sector banks.
Expatriates sent home $222.13 crore in remittances in August, which is the highest in the current fiscal year. During this time, the country received $7.17 crore in remittances every day on average, according to the BB data released on September 1.
The country received $191.37 crore in remittances in July, which is the lowest in 10 months. The situation, however, improved in August after the interim government took charge following a turbulent situation in the country, banking sector analysts said.
