Launch services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route resumed at on Monday (September 16) morning after being closed for about 46 hours due to adverse weather conditions.
According to Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Daulatdia ghat sources, launch services on the route were suspended at 11 am on Saturday (September 14).
Md Shimul, traffic supervisor at the Daulatdia ferry terminal, said with improved weather on Monday, ferry services resumed at 9 am on Monday (September 16).
Daulatdia BIWTA office Assistant General Manager Salah Uddin said: "Ferry services were suspended for four and a half hours from 4 am to 8:30 am on Saturday (September 14). Since then, ferries have been operating cautiously.
“However, there are hardly any vehicles or passengers at the terminal. The ferries are standing at the terminal for a long time and then heading to Paturia with a few vehicles and passengers.”
Currently, eight ferries of various sizes are operating on the Daulatdia-Paturia route, and vehicles are being ferried across using docks 3, 4, and 7 at the Daulatdia end, he added.
