CJ announces plan to set up separate secretariat for judiciary

The CJ made the announcement during a speech in front of 2,000 judges of subordinate courts across the country at the Inner Garden of the Supreme Court today (21 September), during which he presented a roadmap for the judiciary.

Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed has announced a plan to set up a separate secretariat for the judiciary to ensure an independent judicial system.

The CJ made the announcement during a speech in front of 2,000 judges of subordinate courts across the country at the Inner Garden of the Supreme Court today (21 September), during which he presented a roadmap for the judiciary.

"I have asked for the government's help to ensure the independence of the judiciary. This is why a separate secretariat will be established. It will be operated under the Supreme Court," he said.

"Separate policies will be formulated for the promotion of judges. Also, a rule is needed for the appointment of Supreme Court justices," the CJ added.

Meanwhile, Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul and Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman also spoke during the event.

Justices from the Supreme Court and the High Court, judges from subordinate courts and Chief of Judiciary Reform Committee Justice Shah Abu Naim Mominur Rahman were present at the event.
