A conspiracy to disrupt the harmony in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is being orchestrated by external forces, according to AF Hasan Arif, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

Rangamati will continue to shine as a beautiful and harmonious city, both in Bangladesh and globally, Hasan Arif says.

Addressing journalists on Saturday afternoon following a meeting with local political leaders, ethnic group representatives, and security officials at the Rangamati Cantonment, Hasan Arif expressed concern over recent developments.

"Everyone desires harmony, but somewhere, there is a disruption. External conspiracies are at play to destroy this harmony," he said.

The adviser further mentioned that during the meeting, discussions arose regarding the formation of a commission to investigate the incidents that have occurred in the CHT. "By establishing a commission, we can conduct an in-depth investigation to ensure that those truly responsible are held accountable," he said.

Arif also expressed optimism about Rangamati, stating, "Rangamati will continue to shine as a beautiful and harmonious city, both in Bangladesh and globally."

The high-level delegation, led by the Home Affairs Adviser, arrived in Rangamati earlier in the day to observe the situation in Khagrachari and Rangamati and discuss the prevailing law and order situation. The team also included CHT Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma.

Meanwhile, an indefinite transport strike and a 72-hour blockade have been enforced across the three hill districts due to the ongoing conflicts between the hill people and Bengali settlers in Rangamati and Khagrachari.
