India’s border guards have shot dead a Bangladeshi national near the international border in Cumilla Sadar Upazila.
The shooting took place near Joshpur BOP of Paharpur village in Goliara Uttar Union of the upazila on Monday (Oct 7) evening.
The victim has been identified as Kamal Hosain, a resident of Jolai Kuriapara in Comilla Sadar South upazila.
Locals said Kamal Hossain entered India through the Paharpur area on the Joshpur border in the evening. He died on the spot after BSF members shot him. Later, BSF took his body.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) contacted the BSF immediately after the incident and were trying to bring the body, said BGB 10 Battalion Cumilla Commanding Officer Lt Col Iftekhar Hossain.
