The responsibility of ensuring safety for all citizens of Bangladesh 365 days a year rests with the government, Home Affairs Adviser Lt General (Retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said.

Jahangir made the comment following his visit to the puja mandap at the National Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on Thursday.

The adviser added that while isolated incidents may occasionally occur, they do not reflect the overall situation in Bangladesh.

The secretary general of the Bangladesh Puja Committee has informed that there is no information suggesting the possibility of any untoward incidents during the puja, he added.

Regarding security measures for the Dashami, the home affairs adviser said that special security will be in place until next Sunday and will continue across Bangladesh thereafter.

Police, BGB, Ansar, and RAB, along with other forces, have been assigned security duties for this year's puja. Armed forces have been deployed in adequate numbers wherever necessary.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury also said that the home ministry has issued eight directives for the puja. These guidelines have been communicated to law enforcement agencies, and he expects everyone to comply with them diligently.
