Withdrawal of the notification banning Jamaat-Shibir

The executive order of the Awami league-led government has withdrawn the notification banning the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir.

A gazette in this regard was published on Wednesday(August28).

Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir were banned in an executive order on August 1. Jamaat was banned in a notification issued by the home ministry's public security department.

In this regard, Advocate Shisir Mohammad Monir, the lawyer of the party, said that a written application has been submitted with arguments. The government has decided to restore the legitimacy of Jamaat-Shibir .

Sources in the public security department of the ministry of home affairs said that the application of Jamaat and Shibir was heard on tuesday(27August). It was decided to cancel the decision to ban them. However, it is not known when and where this hearing held.

Earlier, the file to restore the legitimacy of Jamaat-Shibir was sent to the law ministry on Wednesday(28August) with the opinion of the home advisor. The Gazette will be published after the final decision of the chief adviser.

The ousted Awami league-led government banned Jamaat-Shibir in accordance with section 18(1) of the anti-terrorism act of 2009. But Sheikh Hasina's 15-and-a-half-year-long authoritarian rule collapsed on august 5 in a student uprising.
