Minority killings to be brought under trial: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said minority killings would be brought under trial if the party (BNP) assumes the state power in future.

He said, “BNP is very sympathetic to the eight-point demand of the Hindu Buddhist Christian community.”

The BNP leader came up with the assertion while talking to reporters after visiting the Durga Puja mandap at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital.

He said, “A particular political party was involved in oppression and occupation of the Hindu community. Every incident of minority killing will be brought under trial by doing proper investigation if we come to power in the future.”

Mirza Fakhrul also added: “It has been created opportunity to build a new Bangladesh by defeating the monstrous forces. We will build Bangladesh where there will be no politics of hatred and division among religions in the country.”

He also observed that some foreign media are spreading propaganda to ruin the communal harmony of Bangladesh.

On behalf of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, he also greeted Hindu community for Durga Puja.

BNP Standing Committee Member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain also spoke.

Assistant Religious Affairs Secretary of the party Amalendu Das Apu, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front Tarun Dey, Central Leader Milton Baidya, Joydev Joy and Jony Deb, among others, were present on the occasion.
