BNP leader Robi suspended

Sheikh Rabiul Alam Robi, member of BNP’s national executive committee, has been suspended from his organizational post.

Senior joint secretary general of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the disclosure while speaking at a press conference at Nayapaltan central office on Monday.

On October 11, a show-cause notice was issued to Robi for his alleged involvement in the death of Deepto TV journalist Tanjil Jahan Tamim.

The notice said it has been reported in several media that you are involved in the incident where Tanjil Jahan Tamim, a broadcast officer at Deepto TV, was killed in an attack on October 10.

It added: “Due to allegations of involvement in such activities, the discipline and image of the organisation have been damaged.”

Tanjil Jahan Islam Tamim, 32, was beaten to death allegedly by workers of a developer company in the Mohanagar Project area of the capital’s Hatirjheel.

According to Tamim's family, a dispute erupted between them and real estate developer Pleasant Properties over the allotment of flats in the company's newly constructed building.

They alleged that the killing took place after a disagreement arose over the distribution of flats in the nine-storey building, which was built on land owned by three individuals.
