Desh Janata Party Makes Its Debut

With a vision centered on equality, justice, non-violence, humanity, and a developed and prosperous Bangladesh, a new political entity, the Desh Janata Party, has officially launched. The party aims to serve humanity and establish a welfare-oriented and livable nation.

The announcement was made by the party’s Chief Advisor, Advocate Iqbal Kabir, during a program on Saturday at the EDB Trade Center in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka. Earlier, the party chairman presented the manifesto to the media, highlighting its historical context and future aspirations.

The manifesto traces the roots of Bangladesh's independence through significant historical events, including the movements and revolutions of 1757, 1947, 1948, 1952, 1966, 1969, 1970, the 1971 Liberation War, and more recent movements such as the mass uprisings of 1990 and 2006, culminating in the 2024 student-led uprising. The Desh Janata Party, officially conceived on December 12, 2016, aims to be a representative political organization dedicated to the liberation and welfare of the people.

The party’s core principles emphasize the idea that "the party is bigger than the individual, and the country is bigger than the party." It advocates for a non-communal, liberal, and democratic state focused on human welfare and the suppression of evil for the greater good.

The manifesto outlines several objectives, including:

  • Building a Bangladesh with widespread employment opportunities, reduced unemployment, and poverty alleviation.
  • Ensuring climate protection, reduced carbon emissions, and a clean, sustainable environment.
  • Upholding human dignity, equality, and social justice while fostering a safe and non-violent society.
  • Safeguarding the fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Constitution, including access to food, clothing, housing, education, and healthcare.

The party also commits to empowering citizens through education, training, civil rights, and full employment. It seeks to implement union-based administrative systems, respect existing laws, and enhance electoral empowerment. Through balanced governance, the party aims to establish a discrimination-free democracy grounded in the rule of law, freedom of speech, and voting rights.

During the program, the 105-member executive committee of the Desh Janata Party was revealed, with Md. Noor Hakim appointed as chairman and Idris Ali Nantu as general secretary.

The Desh Janata Party envisions a non-violent, safe, and humane Bangladesh inspired by the spirit of independence, promising a brighter future for all citizens.
