Biswa Ijtema to be held Jan 31-Feb 2, Feb 7-9

The date for next year’s, i.e., 58th Biswa Ijtema has been fixed. Like the previous years, the second largest congregation of Muslim pilgrims will be held in two phases on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi. 

This was informed by the relevant sources of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (November 4).

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that next year, the first phase of Biswa Ijtema will be held from January 31 to February 2 and the second phase will be held from February 7 to February 9.

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that preparations for Ijtema have already started. The administration and the law and order forces are making all-out preparations for the smooth completion of this huge religious gathering.

Meanwhile, ahead of the 58th Biswa Ijtema, Tabligh Jamaat’s 5-day-long Jor Ijtema will begin on November 28 at Tinshed on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi.

Mentioned that since 2011, the Biswa Ijtema has been held in two phases for the convenience of the pilgrims which started in 1967 on the banks of Turag River. Since 2018, Tabligh Jamaat has officially split into two.

In 2019, in the first phase, the supporters of Zobair and in the second phase, the supporters of Saad arranged the Biswa Ijtema.
