“The three ODIs will be considered as a preparation for the Champions Trophy in 2025,” said BCB president Faruque Ahmed.

He said, "We are trying to play three ODIs on our way to the West Indies."

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have a packed Test scheduled for this year, but in comparison, they would play a few ODIs en route to the Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan.

Faruque said the original target is to help the team prepare for the Champions Trophy with adequate ODIs by trying to arrange a series against Afghanistan.

"We have discussed it with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). We are trying to play the series," he replied in a query.

Bangladesh were scheduled to play an all-format away series against Afghanistan comprised of two Tests along with three ODIs and as many T20Is in July following the ICC T20 World Cup, but the series was rescheduled. BCB earlier said they would try to play the all-format series at a convenient time.
