Shakib Al Hasan's fans have brawled with those opposing his inclusion in the Bangladesh team for the Test against South Africa.

Shakib was initially named the squad for the first Test but was later dropped.

Clashes broke out at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur at around 3pm on Sunday (October 20) when Shakib’s fans were holding protests.

Police and army personnel chased away people engaged in clashes and brought the situation under control.

Shakib’s fans had earlier announced that they would demonstrate in front of the main gate of Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. However, due to the presence of the army and police, they gathered in front of the media gate and held protests.

The security forces stopped them when they moved towards gate 1. They shouted slogans on the road between gate 1 and the media gate.

The fans said they would not allow any Test match without Shakib.

During that time, another group opposing the all-rounder’s inclusion in the team attacked them.

Shakib was initially named the squad for the first Test but was later dropped.
