An engrossing session of Test cricket. It began similarly to how yesterday ended, with Bedingham and de Zorzi plundering the Bangladesh bowlers. Bedingham's dismissal, though, set in motion a mini-collapse, with the visitors losing three wickets - including that of de Zorzi and Bedingham - for just five runs. Mulder and Rickelton have kept Bangladesh at bay since but a 550-plus score, which seemed a given at one stage, does not seem so anymore.
Bangladesh will be content with the second half of the first session. Taijul seemed to find a rhythm and they have not allowed South Africa to completely run away. But the runs they shipped yesterday means that they barely have any margin for error and if they are to establish a firmer foothold in this contest, they will probably need to take these last five South African wickets quickly. We will be back in about half an hour with the post-lunch session!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Mulder, 3 runs short and wide outside off. Mulder sits deep in his crease and then cracks it through the vacant cover region. Rana chases after it and pulls it back into play, just in the nick of time. That will also be lunch!
Over the wicket for the last ball of this session.
