
The 24th “Mother Teresa International Award”, ceremony was held at the St. James School Auditorium, Kolkata on January 27.
Dr T H Ireland, Chairman of the Mother Teresa Award Committee and Father Joy D Souza (Regional Education Commission West Bengal and Sikkim) were present at this illustrious event organized by the Mother Teresa International Award Committee. Mirza Ahmed Ispahani (Director, Ispahani Limited Bangladesh) was present as one of the guests.
This year, 12 awards have been given to various organizations and individuals in consideration of the highest selection of the "Mother Teresa International Award Committee" in recognition of outstanding contributions in various fields.
In today's ceremony, the Mother Teresa Award was presented to various organizations and distinguished individuals who were especially honored by the Aurd Committee.
Among those who have been awarded prizes at the grand event are Ispahani Tea Limited (Bangladesh), Emma Burns (UK), Nitish Roy (International Award-Winning Art Director), Prof. Dr. Bhavatosh Biswas, Sardar Gurmeet Singh (Socialist), St. Xavier's College Alumni Association, St. Sebastian's School, Ujjal Chatterjee (international award-winning director) and Amitabh Majumder (philanthropist). As the remaining three prize recipients are absent, their awards will be delivered to them in due course by the Aired Committee.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commission (Consular) Almas Hossain and Press Secretary Ranjan Sen were present at the ceremony.
A documentary on Mother Teresa was screened at the event. At the end of the program, patriotic songs and dances were performed by Devrup Roy and Rituparna's “Tal the Beat” dance academy.
