KLIFAA 2024 receives 3,135 entries, Malaysia Set to be a World Film Hub

Ahmadul Kobir, Malaysia:

The Kuala Lumpur International Film Academy Awards 2024 (KLIFAA 2024) receives overwhelming support from international filmmakers with 3,135 entries from 98 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, India, Bangladesh, USA, Australia, Canada, Iran, France, United Kingdom and Mexico.

KLIFAA’s Chairman, Tengku Azlan ibni Sultan Abu Bakar said, the encouraging response received from film activists from all over the world had a positive impact on this inaugural event.

"Tonight, KLIFAA 2024 is officially launched. I, as the Chairman together with the committee members consisting of industry veterans, are very proud of the support not only from Malaysia but also from all over the world.

"The 3,135 entries from 98 countries motivate us to continue this effort which also provides an avenue to well-known and new artistes alike to carve their names in the film industry," he said at the KLIFAA 2024 Opening Ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center here, today.

He said this event is also one of the ways to teach the young generation to venture out and become popular in the future.

"I think this is a stepping stone for them.  As we have already known, the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee became famous as an actor, director, composer and singer and is still unsurpassed. We don't have many such talented artistes today.

"KLIFAA 2024 aims to further improve the standard of the world's film industry and, God willing, if what we are working on happens, it will open the eyes of the whole world to Malaysia as a new hub of the film world," he said.

The inaugural KLIFAA 2024, a prestigious international award event is scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) on 7 to 11 August 2024.

This event, which carries the theme 'Inspiring Brilliance, Igniting Passion', displays the spirit of the festival, aiming to unite cultures, spark thought and inspire creativity on a global scale.

Participation in this event is open to all artistes from all over the world from various genres namely  Feature Films, TV Dramas, Documentaries, Short Films and Animation. The submission dates for competition and non-competition categories start from 1 March to 31 May 2024.
