Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman has said quota reform is now a matter for the judiciary, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt law and order, regardless of who they are, will be dealt with firmly.

Everyone must adhere to the court's orders, the senior police officer on Monday said.

Highlighting the extensive security arrangements for the upcoming Tazia procession and the Hussaini Dalan for the observance of Ashura, the DMP chief said his unit had implemented all necessary security measures.

Addressing the participants of the procession, he requested everyone not to bring any knives, sharp objects or flammable materials to the event.

In response to a question, the DMP commissioner said that for security purposes, searches had been conducted in the surrounding areas. “Our intelligence personnel are actively working on the ground."

Referring to previous incidents of attacks during Tazia processions, Habibur said the DMP had designed its security plans keeping such incidents in mind.
